FIRST PHOTOGRAPHY GRANT CONTEST


ENTER EMERGING VOICES 2026 — SUBMISSIONS OPEN MARCH 1, 2026

Emerging Voices 2026 is The Humans Being Project’s (THBP) first photography grant contest. THBP is offering one 2,500-euro grant and a 1,000-euro runner-up grant to support photographers documenting communities and regions rarely seen in global media.

These grants can be used for anything that supports your creative vision: new equipment, website, travel, printing or exhibiting work, workshops, or other personal creative projects.

Eligibility & Priority:
The contest welcomes experienced amateur and professional photographers shooting in their native country who have a demonstrated ability to tell compelling visual stories about people and communities. Residents of the United States, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore, UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are not eligible.

The contest is designed to empower photographers from underrepresented regions who face barriers in accessing tools, funding, or other opportunities to pursue their craft. Applicants from countries that are already highly documented or widely resourced are excluded to ensure the contest fulfills its mission of giving emerging voices a platform in the face of inherent challenges they face.

As part of your submission, please include a short statement explaining how you would use the grant—whether to buy equipment, travel, attend workshops, support other creative projects, etc.—and describe any challenges you face in pursuing your photography.


Submission Guidelines

  • Submit either a series of up to 5 images or up to 3 individual images. Additional images will not be considered.

  • Images should focus primarily on people. Landscapes or aerial shots are only accepted if they clearly tell a story about a person, with surroundings as supporting context.

  • Images should be 2500 pixels on the longest side and no larger than 500 KB each.


Key Dates

  • Submission period: March 1, 2026 – April 12, 2026

  • Winners announced: May 2026


Winners:
Two entrants will be selected: the first-place winner will receive a 2,500-euro award, and the runner-up will receive a 1,000-euro award. Both winners will also be recognized across THBP’s platforms.

There is no fee for entry. Submissions will be reviewed and winners selected by THBP. Applicants can access the submission form here beginning March 1, 2026.
