CELEBRATING THE MANY FACES

MISSION
The Humans Being Project (THBP) is a global narrative about people everywhere. Its aim is to communicate our shared humanity across vast cultural differences. THBP gives viewers the opportunity to glimpse into the lives of individuals and cultures very different from their own and to find connection there. In creating that connection, we hope to inspire compassion and a deeper appreciation of one’s own humanity—and of all human life.

GET INVOLVED
ENTER THBP’S creative photo grant contest
THBP is holding a photography contest, awarding two grants totaling $2,500 to support photographers who face challenges accessing resources or opportunities, especially those documenting communities or regions rarely seen in global photography. We’re looking for images that highlight the people and communities of your native country. Residents of the United States and Canada are not eligible. Submissions open October 15, 2025. Click the link below to learn more.
HOST US IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY
Would you like to host THBP in your own community, wherever you live in the world? When traveling to a new country we seek to connect with people who can show us around and get us as dialed into their local communities as possible. This can include logistical help with things such as translation, transportation, lodging, providing info about the area, and making introductions. Tell us what’s remarkable about where you live, and why you think we should come visit. Apply to become a host today.
BECOME A SPONSOR OR CONTRIBUTOR
THBP is on a mission to bring the world closer together by making humanity more aware of itself and our similarities. Are you an individual or part of an organization that would like to support THBP’s mission through the donation of goods and services or a direct financial contribution? Click on the link below to find out how you can become an official sponsor.

DAY TO DAY WITH THBP FOUNDER, MERRICK CHASE
My name is Merrick, and I travel the world to discover and explore people, communities, cultures, and ways of life that are utterly different from my own. I encounter people from all walks of life and tell their stories through imagery, providing windows into different worlds that aim to inform and inspire others. My goal is for the imagery and stories you experience here to open you up to what it’s like to be somebody else, living a reality you may have never imagined, and to reveal that, despite our differences, we have far more in common than we might think—we are all part of the same human family.
You can explore hundreds of images from my travels on the Faces page, and archived adventures are available on THBP’s Facebook page.
Many images from Bhutan and other countries are still to come here on the website, and a new section is coming soon that will enable visitors to purchase prints of any of the images seen throughout the site. I hope you’ll enjoy The Humans Being Project and feel something from this imagery that you’ve never experienced before. Thank you for visiting!
